While therapeutic massage can be very relaxing, my primary goal is to help reduce pain and improve mobility. I work with my clients to identify problem spots and remedy them through a combination of massage and education.

No upcharges or add-ons. All of my experience is at your disposal during our sessions. Let's talk about what you need, then do it.

My Approach

The Massage Industry takes itself too seriously

Our bodies are miraculous machines and they're also silly, weird, and full of surprises. We have learned so much about the human body, from centuries of tradition to cutting-edge modern science. And yet, there is still so much we do not understand.

Rather than filling in the unknown with my personal answer to life, the universe, and everything, I want to learn about what's holding you back. Let's talk about your goals and make a plan together about how best to reach them.

I am thoughtful, trauma-informed, and queer . . . and I don't have all the answers. I do have a keen ability to listen deeply to my clients' needs, while providing excellent massages in a safe, comfortable environment. Make an appointment and see for yourself!


What's your specialty?

The different massage modalities are poorly defined, but I think I'm closest to Deep Tissue Massage. I tend not to use that phrase because not every situation calls for deep pressure, and I don't believe effective massage needs to be intense.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your first appointment is scheduled to begin. If you haven't already filled out a New Client Intake, we'll start with that and a discussion of your goals. Every body is different, and we'll spend much of our first session finding what works best for you.

Do I need to tip?

I work for myself, and have set an hourly rate I think is fair. If you're feeling very satisfied and want to tip, I use tips to subsidize massages for those who can't afford the full rate.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a session, please give 24 hours notice or you will be charged 50% for the missed session. Emergencies, snowstorms, and illness are of course taken into consideration.

Intake

If I experience any pain or discomfort during this session, I will immediately inform John so that the pressure and/or strokes may be adjusted to my level of comfort. I further understand that massage/bodywork should not be construed as a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment and that I should see a physician, chiropractor, or other qualified medical specialist for any mental or physical ailment of which I am aware. I understand that massage/bodywork practitioners are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments, diagnose, prescribe, or treat any physical or mental illness, and that nothing said in the course of the session given should be construed as such. Because massage/bodywork should not be performed under certain medical conditions, I affirm that I have stated all my known medical conditions and answered all questions honestly. I agree to keep John updated as to any changes in my medical profile and understand that there shall be no liability on the practitioner's part should I fail to do so. I also understand that any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by me will result in immediate termination of the session, and I will be liable for payment of the scheduled appointment. I agree to provide John with at least 24 hours notice if an appointment must be changed, and accept a 50% fee if such notice is not met. Understanding all of this, I give my consent to receive care.
